Frequently Asked Questions
What’s in it for me if I refer a friend for a job?
Each job on Bounty Network has been set a cash bounty. The bounty is there to incentivise you to refer the job onto your friend(s) who is well suited to the role, and reward you for your efforts when they get made an offer. Not only is the cash yours when an offer is made, you’ve just helped your friend get a great new job too.
What kind of financial rewards can I expect?
Every job has a cash bounty, which you can earn by successfully recommending your friends for specific roles. The better suited your friend is for a job, the more likely they are to get it and therefore the more likely you are to earn the bounty. Check out our Top Bounties for the cream of the crop.
How do I claim my money?
We’ll contact you directly as soon as the friend to whom you referred a job is made an offer, and ask you for your bank details or address. Then we’ll transfer the bounty over to you within 24 hours, or send a cheque in the post if you’d prefer.
So how does the tax work on my bounty?
Bounty Network has had HMRC tax clearance so we don’t need to deduct tax from any payment you receive from us. You will, of course, need to declare any income you receive on your HMRC tax assessment for the financial year where applicable and sign a form from us confirming you understand this when you earn a bounty. So, simple as that, then the money is yours!
What if I want to apply for a job myself?
You can! If you see a role well suited to your skills and experience, you can apply for it directly via Bounty Network. Just click the apply button on the job profile, fill in your details and upload your CV. In the referrer section, simply fill in your details again – then we know it’s a job you found for yourself.
Do I still get a bounty if I apply for a job directly myself?
Not in this instance, bounties are for referred jobs only. That’s just the way our system works – but hey, you’ve still found yourself a great new job! And to make it even sweeter, we send you a bottle of champagne to help you celebrate.
Is it better to apply directly or be referred for a role?
Whether you apply directly for a role, or come to a role via a referral doesn’t affect your chances of success in getting the job at all. If your friend refers you, it is only fair to let us know they referred you and help them win their bounty reward. If you spotted the role yourself, apply and try your own changes of success.
What if I want to refer a job to more than one friend?
You can refer a job to as many friends as you like. Just remember, that the better suited a friend is for that job, the more likely they are to be made an offer, and the more likely you are to win that cash bounty. And, if you are known only to send the most relevant roles to friends, they’ll pay more attention to the job recommendation and think more seriously about applying – increasing your chances of winning that bounty.
What if someone else has also referred a particular role to the same friend - do I still get my bounty?
Yes, well half of it at least. If more than one person refers the same job to the same friend, and the friend goes on to get the job, then the bounty is divided equally between all referrers (that means you and whoever else referred the job to them).
What if a friend sends me a job referral, which I'm not right for, but I know someone who is? Can I refer it on to another friend?
Yes – please do! If you don’t think you have the right skills and experience for a role which has been referred to you by a friend via Bounty Network, but you know someone else who does, all you need to do is refer it on to them. Follow the link in the referral email to the job profile, click the refer button and fill in your other friend’s details. We’ll keep a track of this. And if this person goes on to successfully get the job, you and the friend who initially sent the job onto you get to share the bounty 50/50.
Do I have to give back the bounty if my friend loses the job?
No! The bounty is yours and yours for the keeping on job offer, regardless of what happens to your friend in their new role.
How do I keep track of all the referrals I’ve made?
Bounty Network has a very clever system that does this for you. Any time you want a breakdown of what you’ve referred to whom, just drop us a line at hello@bountynetwork.com and we’ll send the details over to you. Though we’ll always keep you up to date with any application which comes as a result of your referrals, we’d also encourage you to follow up with friends to see how they’re getting on – that’s the friendly thing to do, isn’t it?
Will my current employer know that I am applying for a new job or referring people for jobs?
Applying for and referring jobs on Bounty Network is completely confidential. The only people who will know about it are us, you and the friend you are referring a job to, and then the relevant company as and when you or a friend apply.
